Smoked Prime Rib with Herb Butter Bath

While the prime rib and ribeye are technically the same part of the cow, the flavor of the prime rib couldn’t be more distinct. If you’re looking something buttery smooth and tender, look no further. This holiday mainstay gets an herby butter bath, and goes straight to the smoker!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 whole prime rib (5 – 6 pounds)
  • 1 stick of butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Head Country Original Seasoning
  • 2 springs of sage, thyme & rosemary (bundled together)

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Set up smoker for 225.
  2. Season prime rib generously with rub.
  3. Melt a stick of butter and season with 1 tablespoon of rub.  Tie the sprigs of herbs together to make an herby basting brush.
  4. Place the prime rib smoker.  After 1 hour baste with seasoned butter every thirty minutes.
  5. Cook until your desired internal temperature is reach.  Remove and rest for 30 minutes before slicing and serving.Smoked Prime Rib with Herb Butter Bath
